IBM acquires high-tech corporation, StrongLoop, in an attempt to extend its reach using IBM Cloud
IBM Corporation has taken an initiative to progress in the field of software development. IBM news stated that it has acquired the software company, StrongLoop, which is known for its application development software enterprise Node.js that lets application developers make applications while using Application Programming Interfaces (API).
APIs are components of software that integrate business processes, data and business processes that link enterprises with workers, partners, and customers. IBM news today informed that as details become more important in cloud environments, developers are employing APIs to pioneer protocols that explains how one software interacts with another. For instance, developers can develop new information assets by integrating services and data disseminated by other companies, ranging from emerging organizations to global businesses, to deliver innovativeness and business value.
IBM breaking news revealed that the company aims to combine the acquired New York based corporation's Node.js abilities with software system, which already encompasses WebSphere and MobileFirst to let customers utilize enterprise data and conduct transactions whether in the premises or in the cloud. These new abilities would allow developers and clients to pioneer scalable APIs, and conveniently link existing back-end, enterprise practices with front-end mobile, web softwares and IoT in a hybrid open cloud. Node.js is one of the rapidly expanding development platforms for the delivery and creation of APIs.
An official of IBM, Marie Wieck, has stated, “Enterprises are focused on digital transformation to reach new channels, tap new business models, and personalize their engagement with clients. APIs are a critical ingredient. By bringing together Strong Loop’s Node.js capabilities to rapidly create APIs with IBM’s leadership in Java and API management on our cloud platform, we are unlocking the innovation potential of two vibrant development communities.”
CEO of StrongLoop, Juan Carlos Soto, believes that this takeover would enable the industrial sector to benefit from Node.js formal entrance into mainstream organization. The corporation’s acquisition of StrongLoop demonstrates its devotion to open source technical features and communities, including OpenStack, Eclipse, Cloud Foundry, Apache, and several others.
Experts believe that this acquisition would not only improve the image of the two organizations but also add value to the business. It is probable that the corporation’s clients and workforce would welcome the new development.
IBM’s officials should utilize the acquired technology in an effective manner to meet the expectations of its users and dominate the highly competitive market. This might prove to be a revolutionary leap for IBM in future.
